Welp, Its Official. They are going to shut down VH1Soul.

Well, I just got word from a former Intern at VH1Soul. And I say former, because as of now, she is going to lose her job. Shoot. A couple of us are going to lose jobs… or Credit Producing Internships. No official date on it as of yet, but shortly, VH1Soul will be ending all programming, and permanently going OFF the air. Forever. Yes. Quite frankly, this sucks donkey balls. For several reasons.

1. It’s always tough to see the loss of jobs. Especially Music Related Jobs.
2. For the video music nerd, and any soul music lover, this is one of the last avenues where you can get great Soul music of all varieties… Live, Recorded, documentaries…. and our alternative to the limited  mainstream channels of “Soul Music” we now have available to us.

As of right now, there are plans to rally and appeal to VH1 to keep the channel. As soon as I get word on what will be done and how you can help, I’ll let you know. But spread the word. And if you love good music… help us out.

WOW!! they really have never put enough into vh1 soul in the first place, which is how it is with all things focused on African American anything. The artist who have made a name for themselves and who rely on royalties from vh1 soul NEED it to stay on the air. I personally have looked to vh1 soul to hear and see the artists who sing the music I actually knew and sang to growing up

yeah. the sad thing is that VH1Soul is the best its been in years. its foolish for them to take this channel from us.

This can’t be happening. I love this channel and watch it everyday faithfully.

unfortunately so. there might be a chance of it merging in with BETJazz… but we dont know yet, and seriously doubt it.

Please keep us updated. There’s gotta be a way to at least voice our protest in a tangible form. They’ve gotta know there’s a niche for music w/ purpose.

there is. key is…. we have to figure out who to take our complaints to, since there really is no “Head” of VH1Soul. ill get into that later today. :D

Sad to hear but I’m not surprised. It appears BET Centric has taken the place of VH1 Soul. This is evident by Centric recycling VH1 Soul’s “Soulstage” programs on their channel. My cable affiliate never carried VH1 Soul and I always wished they had. What a shame!
