Blatantly showing my age, and not really caring regardless, I need to nerd it up a bit and go into this wonderful song that I havent been able to get out of my head since I was a little kid. That song is the Sesame Street Pinball song. You know what it is. It’s the reason why about 90% of you born in between 1975 and 1982 learned how to count before you got to preschool. It’s the source of childhood wonder and entertainment… watch the pinball go through pinballworld and count things along the way. How much more simple, yet awesome can it get?
Well, even more so, looks like. While digging up info on this song many moons ago, I found that it was produced Walt Kraemer and arranged by Ed Bogas. On top of all that win, it was Co-Produced by God of the music nerds, Quincy Jones… and sang by the legendary Pointer Sisters. With a heavy funk influence and a background melody that included steel drums… it’s the type of song Music Nerds like me site as the first time they loved music. And Counting. With chicks like Janelle Monae using this as a sample in their music recently… you know its made its mark on society. lol.
