Why?
This pretty awesome band somewhere out formed in Brighton, England, United Kingdom in 2004, and has been making consistently solid music since then. Impressive fact: the band members (Luke Pritchard (vocals, guitar), Hugh Harris (guitar), Peter Denton (bass) and Paul Garred (drums)) all met at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, where they were all performing students. Explains why they know how to make a good pop tune while keeping their sound edgy and clean… music school will do that to you sometimes. Taking rock music to a melodic and energetic level, The Kooks are reminiscent of a more upbeat Arctic Monkeys, or a cleaner sounding version of The Fratellis, with more energy…. and their own distinctive sound that really can’t be compared to anyone else.
Once again, I could go in, but really don’t have all the time I need to effectively do so. But you know I’ll leave you with a few YouTubes:
and leave you to make your own decisions.
Later Nerds.
