Anita Baker and Lalah Hathaway Surprise Appearance with Rachelle Ferrell @ The Catalina Jazz Club. Video Clips and Photos:

(Before you read anything, do me a favor and hit the Facebook “Like” button feature up there for me? That would be so awesome if someone actually used that newfangled thingie.)

Yes. It actually happened.

Somewhere in the back of my nerdy little head, I’d like to think I was responsible for this. Like I thought I did with the whole Erykah Badu | Lil Wayne | My Morning Jacket connections. But I’m a geek like that.

Anyways, it was another wonderful night with another wonderful performance from the legendary Rachelle Ferrell. After announcing the sequence of shows on the site and planning out who I was gonna take, it became apparent (via the mighty twitters) that a couple of other special people had their own plans for attending as well. Having already made it to the late show on friday and taking my mother with me, I ended up going again after catching a few hints from Anita herself. I arrived to the early saturday show to find that both Ms. Baker and Lalah (who also came to the friday show) had shown up together and were front and center for Rachelle Ferrell, having what seemed to be the time of their life.

Basically, there was just waaaaaay too much talent in this one room to be understood.

After Lalah did her own duet and appearance with Rachelle and she neared the end of her wonderful show… It came time for requests, where after doing a beautiful acoustic version of “Blackbird,” (yeah I have footage of that too) Anita made it very clear that she would love to hear “With Open Arms….” which Rachelle made sure she did immediately. Almost instantly after completing that request, the audience (which seemed like the whole entire world) and Rachelle requested that Ms. Baker come up and do something. And even though it was clear that she was just there to relax and have a great time… Mama Baker came up and gave us just a BIT of the glory. It was greatness personified. A crowd of grown men and women, who on AVERAGE were 30 years old and up… were reduced to Justin Bieber Fanboy-like screams when Anita sang out. Amazing moment in life that I was able to get some footage of before my camera started running out of room.

Now please keep in mind that there are 2 More videos of Anita, Lalah and Rachelle onstage… let alone the music clips I got of Rachelle alone. I am uploading them all, very slowly on a computer I’m not too familiar with, so give me time. I will update this post as the videos upload successfully.

(please note: I’m currently in the middle of Social Media Apocalypse, where my smart phone and supercomputer died all within a week of each other. Post Forthcoming.)

Anyways, Lets get to the glory.

*Updated: Ms. Baker hits the stage with praise for the legendary Rachelle Ferrell while the ENTIRE Catalina Jazz Club goes insane; Rachelle and Lalah Duet accompanied by Anita Baker Dancing. LOL.

(After some convincing, Anita blesses us with the glory. Lalah and Rachelle are basically having the physical reaction that I’m having internally at that same moment. Especially when Rachelle bows. LOL. Adorable.)

*Updated: (After Ms. Baker does a little bit of singing, Lalah and Rachelle take some time to tell her what she means to them.)

From here, I have more videos to upload for everyone to enjoy, but I’ll need some time since I’m working on my friends MacBook and familiarizing myself with a system I haven’t used seriously in over 14 years. I also have photos that I’m trying to get set in a slideshow for you convenience (my new layout means my slideshow game changed… gotta relearn it). Again. As everything upload, I will edit and update this post. Just stick with me.

All glory goes to Ms. Baker, Ms. Hathaway and Rachelle Ferrell for even HAVING me. God is good and he looks out for me sometimes.

Stick with me kids, and enjoy.

Watching and, more importantly, listening to these three women gave me chills! I really loved how Ms. Ferrell and Ms. Hathaway paid homage to Momma Baker, who has one of the most beautiful and distinct singing voices of our time. Thank you so much for posting!!!
