One of the most beautiful voices to ever borderline yell it out in the history of life.

Born to a somewhat douchey and abusive mother in New York, grew up to further her musical training in Greece and Italy. Became known La Divina around the world. Always a bit above “average beauty status,” she dropped about 80 pounds right when her career took off and hit supermodel status back in the 1950s, which made her the subject of early tabloid fodder. Some say it was the end of her Soprano voice, while others say it was the start of her life. Then there is that whole thing with the Onassis Clan. And the shit-talking scandal with Renata Tebaldi, which could be one of the first incidents of “beef in the music industry” ever, if you will. But beyond all that… Her vocal register is unfuckwithable (yes I said that) and renown throughout the universe; her ability to belt out a powerful vibrato that could be heard throughout halls WITHOUT microphone rigging is a story of legend you can hear on her early vinyls.

There are few that go before her and few that come after her on my list. Victoria de Los Angeles, Leontyne Price, Marian Anderson, Jessye Norman, ect. But Maria Callas is up there. Certified. In love with her story. In love with her. Greatest of all time.

Dude, her ability to inject life and character into the parts that she played still goes unmatched. She gave her roles a certain life and attitude that no one else could ever pull off. Watch how she destroys “Un Voce Poco Fa.” From the voice-over to the acting out. If I used the word Swagger often, This would be one of those times.
