Video: Anita Baker wins her very first Grammy Award. Links:

Because sometimes you just happen to be up late nursing popped hamstrings while randomly watching old school 1970s/80s footage and performances of the Grammys. I was just… in the mood to watch the Grammys at a time where talented people were still winning the awards (oops). It started by watching Patti LaBelle footage, then Whitney Houston footage, which led to Anita handing Whitney one of her first Grammys, which led to footage Anita Baker receiving her very first Grammy. Ahhh, ADD and and YouTube. It made me SO HAPPY to just randomly come across this the way I did. I love you, Internets.

Anyways, I remember watching this footage as a kid, and it was great so to see. Not only did everyone in my household want her to win that Grammy, it seemed like everyone AT the Grammys wanted it for her too. Her acceptance speech is classic Anita, filled with LoLs and happiness, graciousness, shouts out to Vesta Williams and praises to Jesus. Yeah, its just too adorable. I couldn’t pass this up. Had to post it. Get your flashback on and go play some quality music.

This is friggin awesome! Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait till her new project drops. In a time of autotune, lip syncing, and an overall lack of talent, the music world NEEDS Anita Baker.
