New Music: Columbia Nights. Their brand of Jazz/Soul is pretty refreshing. You should listen.

In other epic musical finds this week, I present you with my newest discovery, Columbia Nights, and their new album, Dawn | Dusk. It is exactly what I need in my life right now. So what’s unique about this duo’s music? It’s their approach to making quality jazz music with a modern style and approach, reminicent of The Park and their previous works. An atmospheric sound that combines classic elements and styles of jazz and soul music with modern recording techniques and strong, rich vocals for a refreshing take on traditional jazz/soul music. Production methods are stellar for these self-proclaimed beginners; instruments are obviously mastered and well played on their lush tracks. And they aren’t just one-hit wonders; these kids have several songs that are actually GOOD. I am intrigued and impressed.

It started last week while I was on a mission for new music to throw myself into. Asking for suggestions, someone from Columbia Nights camp sent me the link to their bandcamp and the rest is history sitting right in front of you. Soundcloud links led to YouTube searches, which officially cemented my interest in these kids and their style. For now, it looks like they are hard at work prepping their first official release, but in the meantime, we can just sit back and enjoy the tracks these kids have finished up so far.

Give them a listen, check out their site and their twitter… tell me what you think.
