D’Angelo and Mary J. Blige announce 13-date North American Concert tour. Dates:

Yeah, its official. Hopefully tickets won’t be out of control with the prices.

Swipe from Live Music Guide:

Soul artists Mary J. Blige and D’Angelo recently announced dates for a joint American tour.  The Liberation Tour kicks off on August 18 in Virginia Beach, VA and will travel to 13 cities including Boston, Miami, Las Vegas and the last stop Chicago where they’ll be performing at the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island on September 9.

The co-headlining tour will give R&B enthusiasts a chance to see Blige perform material from her latest album My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act 1).   The album was released in November 2011 and spawned the hit single “Mr. Wrong.” The aforementioned is a continuation of Blige’s signature 1994 album My Life.

Fans will also witness the comeback of singer D’Angelo, whose last album Voodoo was released in 2000.  D’Angelo burst onto the soul scene in 1995 with his platinum-selling debut Brown Sugar.  Though the singer-songwriter took an almost decade long hiatus from music following the success ofVoodoo, he has recently performed at high-profile events including the 2012 BET Awards and this year’s Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.

Up-and-comer Melanie Fiona, known for songs including the Grammy nominated “It Kills Me,” will open for Blige and D’Angelo as The Liberation Tour makes its way across the U.S.
