Dee-1: It’s My Turn | Official Music Video. MTV Jams, pay attention.

So Music Nerdery has the great pleasure of bringing you the video follow-up for Dee-1’s latest single, “It’s My Turn.” An Exclusive of sorts, you can say. With the single already out for the last few weeks, he brings you the follow-up video for the MTV and YouTube masses to enjoy (like, right after I asked for it). The new album “I Hope They Hear Me v.2″ is due 2.22.11, and I’ll have another interview with Dee ready when the album drops for you; please believe it. For now, watch below and spread the word.

I usually don’t like blogging about popular mixtapes, since I kinda try really hard to post content that happens to be cool and no one seems to be paying attention to. Plus, with potholes posting it before I did, I figured ‘ whats the point.’ I put it on the back-burner (with two writing projects due) and promised myself I would get to it within the week for my boy Dan.  And now I’m mad that I waited at all.

Stalley was already a popular favorite with all the music nerdy kids who love hip hop.  But with this  “Lincoln Way Nights” album and these beats… he’s put himself in the lead for my popular favorite (album references) right now. There really isn’t a track on this album that I have to skip over, which is the first sign of a great album. The second sign is the fact that I have favorites within 24 of listening to it, and they stay on repeat. “The Sound of Silence”, “Hercules”, “Pound”… there’s nothing but horn laced boom-baptacular greatness on this sh*t. Oh yeah… and if “She Hates The Bass…” get a new girlfriend.

With that said, go to Stalley’s Bandcamp right now, and download it. Its free. You have nothing to lose.

Forth...

...and Back. ©Slum Village

I’m trying to tell you that this song is Awesome Now. Please Listen to Me. Dee-1: “It’s My Turn.”

This song is huge. Like, trunk music huge. Like… go put the extra bass on your motherf*#($&ng stereo and listen to this song blow out your speakers while you get it in HUGE. If you put it in your headphones, don’t hurt your ears-type HUGE. Large amounts of Southern Swag (we gotta find a new word for swag, btw), 808s and general hip hop glory. And not only is Dee winning with the beat on this one… he steps in and unleashes some Hot Fiyah lyrically upon you. Basically, this song is THEEE shit, and I love it.

Now you talk about songs that are not only well done, but also pop up into your life right at a time where it feels like this person wrote said song just for you? I’m talking about this song. Briefly celebrating the hard work, progress and well deserved praise Dee-1 is finally getting, he gets into what it took to get him to the top… and what it will take to keep him there.

Download Dee-1’s “It’s My Turn” By Clicking Here. Then spread the word. Your boy Dee is the truth. Seriously.
I told you first! ;)

Swipe from my boy Andrew over at Prefix Magazine (which was a swipe from Pitchfork…):

TV On The Radio Returning With ‘Nine Types Of Light’ This Spring

February 7, 2011 3:39 p.m. by Andrew Martin

As we reported in September 2009,  TV on the Radio went on a year-long break so its members could work on some solo material/side projects. And in the ensuing months we all heard the results of that time off, from Kyp Malone’s Rain Machine project to Dave Sitek’s work as Maximum Balloon. But now, nearly a year and a half later, the guys are back. The quintet announced that their fourth proper studio album, Nine Types Of Light, is due out on Interscope this spring. That’s all that has been revealed thus far, so be sure to check back here for any further information on the album.

Oh I can’t wait.
Can’t wait, can’t wait, can not WAIT.
More on this as I find it.
