If you missed it: Jill Scott settles with Hidden Beach; Possible New Album on the way.

YAY NEW MUSICS

If you missed it = I missed it, so you might have not seen it yourself. So here you go.

In classic Jill Scott fashion, it looks like she has privately resolved the ongoing legal issues with her label, Hidden Beach Records. It began when Hidden Beach filed their suit against Jill, claiming that she still owed them Several Albums. Jill counter sued, Claiming the ability to dissolve contract via California 7-Year Clause. Just when you thought this wasn’t going to end well, Jill pops up on the Essence Music Festival dates, the album title “The Light Of The Sun” pops up (I’m late tho), and she quietly settles out of court with terms of the agreement kept confidential. Hey. Whatever you need to do to get moving. I’ve heard you’re going all the way in with the new album, cant wait to hear where your heart is at right now. Good luck with everything.

(This song still hits a fu*king nerve. Got me feeling some kinda way about something.)

I'm trying to tell you that this song is Awesome Now. Please Listen to Me. Dee-1: "It's My Turn."

This song is huge. Like, trunk music huge. Like… go put the extra bass on your motherf*#($&ng stereo and listen to this song blow out your speakers while you get it in HUGE. If you put it in your headphones, don’t hurt your ears-type HUGE. Large amounts of Southern Swag (we gotta find a new word for swag, btw), 808s and general hip hop glory. And not only is Dee winning with the beat on this one… he steps in and unleashes some Hot Fiyah lyrically upon you. Basically, this song is THEEE shit, and I love it.

Now you talk about songs that are not only well done, but also pop up into your life right at a time where it feels like this person wrote said song just for you? I’m talking about this song. Briefly celebrating the hard work, progress and well deserved praise Dee-1 is finally getting, he gets into what it took to get him to the top… and what it will take to keep him there.

Download Dee-1’s “It’s My Turn” By Clicking Here. Then spread the word. Your boy Dee is the truth. Seriously.
I told you first! ;)

So Danny Brown signed with Fools Gold. Its about time.

I was a little late, but I fell in love with Danny Brown after his verse on “Round of Applause,” a track from Black Milk’s Album of The Year (accurate album title alert).  So after my girl Katie and the homie House Shoes chewed me out a few weeks ago for not having all of Danny’s mixtapes and previous workings, they quickly got me caught up that is the epic glory that is Danny Brown. With an aggressive vocal style, ill lyrics and even better punch lines, It only took me listening to The Hybrid and Hot Soup a few times for me to realize that he is a part of The Truth and The Future. The Way and The Light.
So no sooner than I find this dude and fall in love with his flow and delivery do I find out that he signs up with Fools Gold for a distribution deal. And he sounds excited to be there. Quote Danny and Swipe from iHipHop.com:

So Danny Brown just stopped by the office and revealed to me that he is signing with Fools Gold Records.  To be honest I was a little surprised, but that is a great look for him.  Since Cudder they have been a little quite (in hip-hop, that “Barbra Streisand” joint is killing it), and the Donnis signing was a misstep in my opinion.  A-Trak & Nick Catchdubs are excellent and at bringing music to people who don’t merely concentrate on the genre of hip-hop, and I think that although Danny is on some rappity rap sh*t he has the capability to appeal to people with diverse tastes in music.  Plus as Danny just eloquently told me, “Fool’s Gold has the bitches”.

So the future is looking bright for this kid right here. Should be good times. Find the links and enjoy.

p.s. If my photos aren’t loading right… its a side effect of the whole archival and moving of the website thing. Work with me. :)

Amy Winehouse's new album is looking official. Like, "Completed" Official. Links

Early January 2011. Looking good.

Now after anyone has a run like Amy has the last few years, naturally you’re going to be a bit wary and cautious when news pops up regarding new music, new tours… anything. Getting caught up in boyfriends, drugs and family drama will hold anyone up/make anyone flakey for a while. And after seeing Amy probably hit bottom and blatantly not giving a fu*k for a while… it’s a wonderful thing when things really seem like they are starting to turn for the better. And it honestly looks like they are.

In the last year, after looking like she had re-engaged herself to the asshole, she’s finally ditched the douchebag boyfriend Blake and moved on to someone new… and it looks like he’s doing her right. Don’t know if that’s long-term, but who cares. As long as she’s moving on with her life. In the meantime, it looks like she’s been taking care of the little things, as well as the important shit. On top of starting the effort of making sure her Visa and Passport are clear for travel in 2011 and starting a small tour in brazil, She’s supposedly rallied some of the best talent around her on the low to start building her new band and sound. Along with teaming up with Questlove and Raphael Saddiq for new music and to start some kind of super bands…. It also looks like she’s secured Cee-Lo Green in support of her new album as well. And even though she keeps claiming January as the target for her new album release… knowing how the industry is, we wont get it until fall at least. But at least it looks real. It looks very, VERY real. Click the links. I researched this.

Please Musical Jebus. Let this be real. Amen.

Tracklisting of AWESOME

Quick Post for you.

I’ve been hearing the internets go nuts about this one for a minute.  Since the last two mixtapes, ‘The Warm Up” and “The Come Up” showed large amounts of potential, I decided to sit down and take some time to listen to his latest offering and last mixtape before his album drops… “Friday Night Lights.”

With guest appearances from anyone who is decent in the music scene, and an album full of hot beats/music, J. Cole once again shows us why we should start to take him seriously.

Download HERE, and Enjoy.
