Sleazy 2.o has impressive turns from a now established and confident Wiz, a personal, heartwrenching verse from Andre 3000 (6000), a very relaxed. comfortable and pimped out T.I…. and to close, Lil Wayne delivering the best verse I’ve heard from him since the “No Ceilings” mixtape, easily riding the “A Milli” production formula he and others made so popular. No one sucks on this song, and Ke$ha barely shows up on it, making it almost FLAWLESS.  It was leaked a few months ago by bitchie and them, but now it has an official video and push behind it, complete with scenes shot in the East LA River, the Vote for Pedro dude and Swagged Out Trannies.

It’s been seven years(!) since Fiona Apple’s great 2005 album, Extraordinary Machine was released, but according to her label head L.A. Reid, her new album is due out in “the next few weeks.” Apple has had new music rumored for a couple years, and she even told an audience late last year that her album had been, “done for a fucking year.” But apparently the label struggles are about to be done.

YAY.
This is the point where I google search the internet for any leaks from this theoretical album until it happens.

So as D’angelo arrives in the UK to start his tour and Europe shits its pants, it starts to seem more and more evident that what I’ve been yelling about for the last two years is true. D’Angelo is making a valid and valiant attempt to get back to his music. And I cant wait to see where this goes.

Meanwhile over at Okayplayer, Tina Farris (Tour Manager for D’Angelo) has decided she is going to keep a full touring diary on how everything is going. Her first entry finds her geeked to see D’Angelo on the plane to Europe; she then goes into detail about who’s doing, playing and working what for the shows. Knowing Tina, she’s going to keep this blog alive and active for all to see. You should probably watch if you care.

Meanwhile, someone in Europe is my person hero, as they wasted NO time getting home, and uploading some very amazing footage of D’Angelo on stage for his first stage show in a very long time. Performing Chicken Grease, he’s looking good, his band is sounding better and the fans are loving it. I honestly can’t believe it happened; PLEASE MUSIC JEBUS, SEND THIS MAN TO THE STATES SOON.

So 2012 continues to be the year of the Reunion/Comeback. No, I have no idea whats going on, or what exactly Jazzy Jeff  means by “Coming Soon!”, but please Music Jebus let SOMEthing happen so that I may achieve my dream of seeing these to live, together, on the same stage. I have heard previous buzz of a possible album, but I dont want to jinx anything until I have some kind of officialness on that.
I will show my age and geekdom when I say I’ve always loved Jazzy and Will’s careers respectively, I’m pretty much excited for anything they do at this point.
I’ll post more if anything else comes up. For now, you can stare at the photo and marvel at the fact that Will is going grey and Jazz’s glasses have never changed in 20 years.

Sean Combs, the entertainment impresario known as Diddy, is planning to launch a music-themed cable network, according to three sources with knowledge of his plans. The channel is called Revolt and is aiming to launch at the end of the year–12/12/12, to be specific.

Sources with knowledge of the Revolt playbook describe it as a music and music news channel with an urban skew. One described it as the old days of MTV, but for more of the African American audience. The venture is well funded, say the sources.

Former MTV programming chief Andy Schuon is involved with Revolt, according to sources. In 2006, Schuon headed up a music channel called International Music Feed (IMF), which was acquired by Ovation TV before being discontinued.

Comcast will provide distribution as part of its commitment to the FCC to help launch minority owned networks. In April, Comcast began soliciting proposals for “independent channels,” according to its press materials. It plans to launch 10 over the next eight years, including eight Hispanic or African American owned channels, and began accepting proposals for the first three last spring.

Each of the 10 will be added to “select Comcast systems as part of the D1 digital tier,” said Comcast; one source believed there would be around 10 million Comcast homes on board at Revolt’s launch. Comcast announced its plans to launch an “American Latino”-operated channel by July 28, and an African American-owned one by January of 2013, which would fit Diddy’s 12/12 timeframe.

A Comcast rep would not confirm Diddy’s involvement, saying no announcements had been made on which among the “well over 100″ proposals are getting the green light. The rep said discussions with the proposals’ principals are ongoing, and that Comcast hoped to have an announcement soon.

A source said Time Warner Cable (TWC) will also be involved in Revolt distribution, which the source noted would mean around 18 million households, between Comcast and TWC.

A TWC spokesperson said the subscription TV operator has had “some discussions” regarding Revolt and Diddy, but did not have a comment at this time.

Diddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment headquarters in New York did not respond to calls.

Diddy has had a variety of monikers throughout his successful career as a performer, producer and entrepreneur.

It’s a banner time for networks targeting African Americans. The multicast network Bounce TV launched in September, while Kin TV and Soul of the South are aiming to debut in the spring.

Welp. This should be interesting.
