When we say "Put REAL Women/Black Women Back in Videos," THIS is what we mean. Shad: "Keep Shining."

I was just speaking about how great Shad is just a few days ago. It’s always great to find new musicians with so much talent that you’re a bit overwhelmed. His lyrical style is just… impressive. Incredibly impressive. I was just so happy to find someone new to invest some time into musically. Down to the story of how he’s made his music… his life and his vision seems right.
So fast forward a few weeks to Shad releasing his newest video for his song, “Keep Shining.” Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Shad gives us his well done dedication to women of all shapes, sizes and ethnicities. And while doing it… it never comes off as pretentious or preachy. Only uplifting and praising. Thanks for this, Shad. I appreciate and I’m inspired by you. Keep it up.

Matt & Kim – Cameras | Best Coast – Crazy For You: The Videos. They are really getting good at this.

If you know me, you know I’ve been obsessed with Matt & Kim for a minute. And since their latest musical winner/album “Sidewalks” dropped in November, the obsession has only intensified.  With good ears for a pop tune, an indie approach, and driving 808 beats, Matt & Kim have mastered the art of quality, FUN music.

Not only are they really great at music, they’re really good with the music video as well. With a history of videos that are known to rabble rouse and be awesome all in one…  They now bring you of the best band battle scenes EVAR, they suddenly decide to work out their personal frustrations while “Cameras” plays in the background.

Over here on the west coast… Best Coast has just finished her new video for her latest single “Crazy For You.” The current queen of this lo-fi pop and reverb echo sound, she’s also been throwing together some great little clips for you to see. Watch Below.

On top of that, shes teamed up with Wavves to start her new tour which kicked off in SoCal a few days ago. Make sure you check the tourdates, spread the word and enjoy.

Travis Barker is releasing A Solo Album. I’m mad no one told me about this until now.

Dope.

Not only does he have a Feature packed album due, Its been due for a little while and had been pushed back 6 month from its original date to February. While I’ve already seen one of the videos he directed and produced with The Cool Kids (ended up being his first single), I just attributed it to him being Travis and always being on everyone’s music. I can’t believe I’m just now figuring this out. But please believe it; I’ll be keeping an ear out for this sh*t from this point on.

Peace to Travis Barker. One of the hardest working men in the Music Industry today with one of the kindest hearts. An amazing career that includes almost 10 different bands, and 15 years of playing and being in the scene (on its way to 20 at this point), he could have one of the most diverse Musical Discographies of any Modern Drummer I’ve known (excluding Questlove). He has found and acceptance and respect within the Rock and Metal Community for his own work, and has been welcomed into Hip Hop culture with open arms for his powerful beats and ability to reproduce any hip hop beat you give him flawlessly. He is the Lil’ Wayne of Rock Drummers… he knew they way to keep his career alive was to diversify, keep different music bands and outlets at all times, and continue to hop on everyone’s sh*t. And aside from his music… dude has to be one of the strongest, most endearing human beings to grace the planet. From the loss of his mother early in life, to surviving a Plane Wreck… he is a testament to what happens to great people who work hard and keep their head up regardless of situations and circumstances. I genuinely liked this dude; always have.

The New Album, called “Give The Drummer Some” (awesome) is now slated for February 2011. And I cant wait. Confirmed apperances on the album? Linkin Park, RZA, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Game, Raekwon, Slash, Lupe Fiasco, Swizz Beatz, B.o.B, Beanie Sigel, Bun B, Tech N9ne, Corey Taylor of heavy metal group Slipknot, and Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine. Thats a lotta talent on one album. Hopefully it all goes well. Good luck to you; I’ll be supporting this.

For now, find his mixtape with DJ AM (I miss you dude), and enjoy the videos below.

The “Thank Jebus, Bun B is on his Grind” | UGK Live: July 2007 Appreciation Post.

Hot Shit.

*Updated: Fixed the Mixtape Link. :)

Why?
One half of the legendary UGK, Bun B has been a legend in the rap game for a while, especially down south. The thing that makes him so legendary? Well, on top of having one of the best flows and delivery in hip hop, he is ALWAYS on his  grind. His ability to keep working and keep making hot hip hop tracks with so many people is  what keeps him alive and relevant right now…. and forever. He was the one who thought it was a clever ideal to get on Jay-Z epic, “Big Pimpin.” It was him who kept UGK alive when Pimp C was held up on (foolish) charges. And even with the tragic passing of Pimp C in 2007… He continues to single-handedly keep UGK and good Southern Hip Hop alive by his constant Grind. Props to you for an amazing work ethic, son.

Heres a great interview done with Fiddy (aka Ferrari?) and ‘em, along with a couple of his most recent Mixtape Releases/Loosies I’ve been collecting along the way recently, including my perennial favorite, the “Pants on the Ground” remix.

Then you know, while I’m obsessing about them, I realized that I have a whole block of youtube videos I got while doing some intern work. Well, really I was off that day, but I used my Capitol pass to get video, basically. lol.

Yeah. I was really lucky to be there that day. Great footage, minus the parts where we’re partying and screaming in the background. Heh. Great footage of Collie Buddz, E-40, and Common somewhere on there too.

Have fun.
