Before I get back to it, I need to get the Highlights of the Vacation out my head.

with one comment

I did it.

Before I forget.
So this is why I havent updated in a minute. So please forgive me.

-Virginia Part 1.
-Ashlye and Obama.
-Atlanta, Georgia.
-Miami.
-Miami Beach.
-My first REAL experience with Humidity.
-Swimming in warm waters. It suddenly started raining. But even the rain was warm. So fu*k it. I stayed in the water. What a feeling.
-South Beach.
-The Chophouse around the corner from our Epic Hotel.
-Running into Kathy and her Husband, Boston Fans, while the Lakers game was on. We ended up buying each other drinks and making new friends.
-Helicopter rides.|
-Key Largo/West.
-Watching a Westcoast Beach Sunset on the Eastern Seaboard.
-Walking around American Airlines Area with Laker Gear on.
-While walking around said arena, running into Armando. A commercial real estate superbroker who drove down to Miami for some kinda super party at Wet Willies. Bought 5 bottles on top of the bottles his friends bought, partied hard, then realized the next morning that his Paycheck didn’t clear, and was stuck in Miami with his superclean white Porsche that had no gas in it, and his  boys. And he kept it completely real with us standing NEXT to said Porsche when he asked us if we had any money for gas and some water. Even gave us his business  card. We kicked him down with $50 and made a new friend who is now teaching us valuable information on investments. LOL.
-Buying 2 Live Crew’s first album in Miami. We just wanted to do that. lol.
-DisneyWorld (completely different from DisneyLAND, so sorry). My Feet still hurt.
-Donald Duck.
-Naked Mole Rats! ©Bill Nye the Science Guy
-During the Disney Light Parade, watching Prince Charming come down Main Street with the Glass Slipper. While waving at me and the surrounding children, I yelled out “Charming! Thats TOTALLY my shoe! I promise you!” to which he actually replied, “Really? You can come and get it!”  I geeked out internally and replied “Thats okay. Cinderella can borrow it for now, I understand!” He then blew me a kiss, and rode away. Why that seriously made my life complete, I don’t know. But it did.
-Lily’s Nails in Jacksonville. That leg and foot massage after DisneyWorld changed my life.
-North Carolina.
-Virginia Part Deux.
-Virginia Beach. And low humidity.
-Cold Atlantic waters. Warm Virginia Sun.
-First time having funnel cake and fried oreos.
-Domo Sushi and Sake.
-Jamestown.
-Monticello.
-Walking the steps of Sally Hemmings.
-Servants Quarters. Touching my History.
-The Nice Lady who gave us the private tour of Thomas Jefferson’s house. You are awesome. Thanks for shouting out some valuable  Black History for me.
-Having flight into DC canceled, just to have it instantly rescheduled to a semi private jet.
-Driving around DMV’s retarded highway system.
-Not setting his house on fire.
-Five Guys Burgers.
-Walking around cakey looking Georgetown.
-Driving around DC. The first time.
-Walking up to and inside the Lincoln Memorial at night. The day after being at Monticello.
-A trashrat attacking me while walking back to the car. After freaking out, I hear someone behind me go, “Hey Girl. Thats DC for you. Stay ready.” LOOL.
-Ben’s Chilli Bowl at 1am.
-Washington Nationals Stadium
-Baltimore Ravens Stadium.
-Orioles Stadium.
-Geppi Museum of Popular Culture and Art.
-The (great) Mexican Restaurant and Bar in Federal Hill. And the awesome Australian dude who owned it.
-Washington Monument.
-The White House. At Night.
-Seeing and being surrounded by Fireflies for the first time in my life. At first I was like “WTF,” but THEN I was like, “OMG.” ;)
-US Capitol Building.
-Smithsonian and 3 Other related Museums.
-National Museum of the Native American.
-Thomas Jefferson Memorial.
-The drive up to Philly. (HURRY UP AND GET THERE THE LAKERS ARE ON)
-Game Seven of the Lakers Championship.
-At the bar, celebrating with people in Philly who hate Boston. Go with it.
-Drinking several of something called a “Toxic Shock.”
-Waking up with first hangover in my ENTIRE. LIFE.
-The awesome staff at Club Quarters in Downtown Philly. Thank you for actually walking down to CVS and getting us tons of water, orange juice with calcium and extra strength excedrin. Forever indebted.
-My first meal after borderline alcohol poisoning being the most wonderful Filet Mignon, Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus from Davio’s.
-Mark, his STUNNING wife, and beautiful children. And their lovely house. Made my brain release family hormones for a second.
-Jakes burgers. Dont ask me to choose between In ‘n Out and Five Guys… But if you want Five Guys vs. Jakes, Ima go with Jakes.
-Trying to do all of Philly in a 18 hour period, since we wasted a previous day on recovering from borderline alcohol poisoning.
-Going to Kobe’s High School and New Souvenirs.
-Philadelphia Art Museum, Rocky Steps reenactment, Constitutional Hall, Liberty Bell, and North, East, West and South Philly.
-Eagles Stadium.
-Geno’s Cheese Steaks vs. Pats Cheese Steaks. Pat’s Won.
-The Drive to New York.
-Harvey “Marcus Garvey” King, the greatest, cutest dog ever.

-Dinner at The Palm.
-Walking off our amazing dinner going from 45th and 2nd to 44th and 9th.
-Asking a doorman in a quiet voice where I could find a restroom. He misunderstood me and thought I said restaurant. After repeating that I need a restroom one more time, he shouts out loud, “OH! YOU GOTTA TAKE A PISS!” #NewYorkSh*t
-Walking through Grand Central Station for the first time, trying to find said restroom.
-Times Square at Night.
-Bobby Hutcherson at Birdland. SUPERAmazing.
-Our Amazing Shotglass Collection.
-Flying Home.

Gatdamn.
Welp, until Spain, this could be the Greatest Vacation Ever.
And I’m glad I got that out.

Now we can get back to blogging. But with a heads up. I wont be going in everyday from this point. Every other day, hell yes. But now I have a job and it sucks up my life, so understand the delay. But I’ll be on it. I have to be. Now its Job Related. lol.

Frankly, I'm having the time of my life... and I just need to enjoy it.

Hey people out there who still care. ;)

I needed to drop in on you and just let you know where I’ve been and what I’ve been up to. A lot of you have been worried that I’ve abandoned ship when it comes to my blog… and I HAVE to tell you… this is NOT the case. As you can see, I officially bought out the name ‘Music Nerdery’ for the blog… so you know its all mine now. But the last 6 weeks of my life have been busy and beautiful. Witnessing my baby cousin graduate from Hampton while Obama watched… Trying to keep Kaki King from diving off into insanity world, cheering on the Lakers (GOOO LAKERS!!!) and doing some of the best traveling I’ve done in my life… starting from the lower keys of Florida (That photo you see up there? Yeah. The Keys are Beautiful), ending in New York in a few days. Jets, helicopters, private limos, penthouse suites…. Sometimes, logging off the interwebs for a few weeks is a great thing.

It doesn’t matter how far I travel tho… I’m always thinking about this blog and all the wonderful music that I’ve been hearing and concerts I’ve seen while I’ve been away… from the amazing win that is Miike Snow live (along with his kickass album…) Kaki King’s best live shows to date (yeah we got that shit on tape… can’t WAIT to blog it for you), the epic WIN that is the new Damian/Nas album, Kate Nash’s awesome new joint, my discovery of an amazing artist Careena, dinner with Kaki King and Mike Eizinger from Incubus (hell yes, life is complete), falling in love with Slayer and Megadeth like its 1992 all over again… there’s so much good music and news I need to cover. And I will. Dont worry.

In the meantime… just give me a while to absorb all the awesome that is going on in my life… and appreciate the blessings given to me. I should be back to doing my thing in late June, no later than the start of July. I promise. As usual… just scroll through the archives. I’ve got tons of stuff for you.

And yes, when I get back… we’ll get back to the status of VH1Soul.  Pinkie Swear.

I miss you guys too.

Love, Ericka.
